Creating a Duet through improvisation using the words 'Over, Under, Through: Layering dramatic intention onto the duet exploring the relationship of victim and oppressor: Written analysis of devising in the physical theatre style of Rash Dash  New skills I learnt and experience in the lesson? Improvisation through dance was quite a big thing i learnt in this lesson i did learn a lot about how you can move to improvise, improvisation in dance is quite straightforward for some but for me im not used to dance and am not too sure what to do but after interacting with not only just arms but think of it as water and how your aim is to be fluid and smooth with distinctive shape. Research into Rash Dash Theatre company: RashDash  is a British feminist theatre  company. The company was founded by Abbi Greenland and Helen Goalen. Becky Wilkie later joined. Floor work swinging sequence: The physical skill helped develop in this sequence was flexibility at the knee joint  while my legs folded either side whilst my legs swinging. Another physical skill this worker was strength focusing on core stability to hold the plank for a couple seconds which i felt was successful as i was able to demonstrate this correctly. The whole idea of the swinging was to keep our big toe on the ground whilst having a stretched out leg as far as possible which i managed to demonstrate well. However although i felt my flexibility was good in this sequence there is room for improvement;making this smoother and push further through flexibility. Weight Transference stepping technique: In this sequence shows Coordination. The coordination was shown through the leg as i changed direction whilst simultaneously thinking what next, i think i could have achieved a better result as i did struggle as i found it hard to work out which way next however developing my co...

Positions of the feet: Pointed: Having pointed toes will  support your technique . When your feet are fully engaged, it further engages the muscles in your legs, providing greater stability and control. However this is not always the case as contemporary dance is not meant to be just pretty like ballet instead its meant to be different and just expressing yourself. Flexed Another position your feet will be is flexed, this is heavily contrasted with ballet because ballet is meant to be beautiful with perfect alignment where as for contemporary is heavily involved in feeling the music giving it an entire different look Parallel The last position is having your feet in parallel in other words neutral, this is mainly used for waiting for queues and your time to start dancing or to keep straight alignment so you can be technically accurate whilst dancing with perfect shape. Breath to initiate movement?  In this video you will see a women doing an improvisation o...

Martha Graham -a pioneer, 'The Mother of American Modern Dance'

Where she lived/how she became a dancer Graham was one of three daughters of a physician who was particularly interested in the bodily expression of human  behavior some time in the South, her family settled in 1909 in Santa Barbara  California, where she discovered the rhythm of the sea and became acquainted with Asian art not only that but  Graham thought the style of her teacher, Ruth St.   Denis, wasn't deep enough, and she considered ballet too artificial, too stuck-up, and way too Un -American . which is why Graham took action: Using her body to experiment, she invented her own movement language.  Her dances were dramatic expressions of the conflict between the individual and society in an attempt to look at the internal motivations of humanity  Graham believed that using dance for that purpose would  bring psycho emotional  enlightenment . Fundamental principles in Graham Technique include   contraction and release, oppositio...
