The music dance relationship 1

What is the time signature?

The time signature is a notation to specify how many beats( pulses)are contained in each measure(bar).

The top number in the time signature 4/4 indicated how many beats are in a bar which is 4 then the bottom number indicates that each beat is a quarter note.

Time signature 'Ex-wives'

In Ex-wives the time signature is 4/4 there are 4 beats/pulses in each measure(bar) however in 'Ex-wives there will be rests which indicate absence of sound .

The semi-breve or a whole note is worth 2 minims (½ notes), or 4 crotches (¼ notes). Whole note, whole bar. Then The Minim (half note) is worth 2 crotchets (¼ notes). It’s called a half note, and worth half a bar.

Ex-wives example:

Time signature 'Six'

Exactly the same as Ex-wives the time signature is 4/4 so 4 beats in each bar.

Like 'Ex-wives the  whole note is held for four beats, a half note (minim) is held for two

In the last 3 bars they use different types of rests for instance in the first bar there is 1  rest worth the full 4 in the bar which is a full note .in the second last bar there is a minim rest(2) and a crotchet rest(1)then the finale bar is the same as the second where it has a minim rest and a crotchet rest.

Example

Time signature 'No way'

Again 'No way' is the same as Ex-wives and 'Six' as they all have the same time signature 4/4, 4 beats in each measure.
