When your feet are fully engaged, it further engages the muscles in your legs, providing greater stability and control. However this is not always the case as contemporary dance is not meant to be just pretty like ballet instead its meant to be different and just expressing yourself. Flexed Another position your feet will be is flexed, this is heavily contrasted with ballet because ballet is meant to be beautiful with perfect alignment where as for contemporary is heavily involved in feeling the music giving it an entire different look Parallel The last position is having your feet in parallel in other words neutral, this is mainly used for waiting for queues and your time to start dancing or to keep straight alignment so you can be technically accurate whilst dancing with perfect shape. Achievements and progress: During the past year i have had many opportunities where i learnt and developed more experience in all kinds of dance. One area i feel i have developed is extension, compared to my initial introduction to dance in Six the musical i started developing my use of extension mainly in the arms during the contemporary dance workshop with Danieille Gardener from the garage. i learnt a lot about why extension is used and how this links to emotion and general musicality in dance. I thought i progressed in this after listening to feedback from Danieille Gardener who explained how to use this technique to improve my performance not in just contemporary but all genres. Sam, it has been very encouraging to see the commitment with which you have engaged in the Kathak dance project. In your Performance on Wednesday 14 th June 2023 you performed this ensemble dance piece with a good understanding of the basic Kathak qualities we have been learning, applied to telling the story to a public audience. Yu have worked hard on developing your physical skills this year and I was delighted to see the outcome of this progress in the accuracy of your posture and much more developed co-ordination skills, enabling you to perform the mudras with confidence and accuracy. It is evident that your had work and target setting is paying off and heling you develop greater levels of skill ad confidence as a dancer.
