Unit 13 and 14 Analysis of key features of contemporary dance in 'El Perdon'

 The key features of contemporary dance: Positions of the feet: Flexed: A flexed foot is heavily contrasted with ballet because ballet is meant to be beautiful with perfect alignment where as for contemporary is heavily involved in feeling the music giving it an entire different look. It does not really convey much emotion at all, however you could interpret it as being discomforting. Pointed: this is heavily involved with Ballet as it has a fixed alignment, which Ballet like as its more pretty and clean looking. you can associate having pointed feet with being calm (emotionally). I feel as though my ability to do this is constantly improving the more i dance and will hopefully carry on improving with more and more practice Breathe to initiate movement: Contraction and relationship to gravity: Range of movement of the spine: Contact work and trust: (insert video here)

 Teacher comment: Sam Sam, you have worked with commitment and dedication in this contemporary dance project and developed greater confidence and skill in your dancing. This progress was demonstrated in your performances of ‘El Perdon’ on Wednesday  8 th  March at the One Night Only Showcase and the Punchdrunk interpretation of ‘A Dolls House’ on Wednesday 29 th  March 2023. Through your hard work you are developing your dance technique and physical skills. You need to develop your posture and alignment and strength as we move forwards. In performance you showed strong focus and self-discipline, and an ability to express the intention of the dance. You clearly understand that a successful performance is about communicating the meaning of the work as much as technical accuracy.  In future I would like to see you extend the lines of your body more In performance, enabling you to project the movement more effectively to an audience.
